Secondary Literacy Pilot: 2025–2026

Strengthening literacy across secondary education

In partnership with the Department for Education, this new Secondary Literacy Pilot expands the English Hub’s support to include secondary schools. The initiative focuses on improving reading outcomes and providing targeted support for students who need it most, helping schools raise attainment and close literacy gaps.

Pilot Objectives

  • Empower schools to adopt a whole-school approach to reading.
  • Improve outcomes for students with identified reading needs.
  • Build knowledge and confidence in effective literacy practices across secondary education.

What Participating Schools Receive

  • A comprehensive reading provision audit with tailored recommendations.
  • Up to £3,300 in funding for literacy resources.
  • Access to intensive support days from experienced Literacy Specialists (subject to availability).
