Medium Level Support

This year, we are pleased to offer a wide range of free professional development opportunities, alongside external training and conferences, to support schools in strengthening early language, phonics and reading provision.

All of our training is aligned with the three core aims of the English Hub programme, while also addressing wider aspects of literacy to support high‑quality teaching and learning across the primary phase. Sessions are delivered by experienced practitioners and specialists and are firmly rooted in strong, evidence‑informed classroom practice.

As an English Hub, we also deliver the DfE‑funded, year‑long national programmes, including:

  • Transforming Your School’s Reading Culture
  • Early Language
  • Reading Ambition for All – teaching children who need the most support, including those with SEND
  • Reading Fluency: The Bridge to Comprehension
  • Writing Framework Series

If you are interested in taking part in any of these programmes during the 2026–2027 academic year, please email us at englishhub@oneexcellence.co.uk

Open Events

Alongside our training courses and workshops, One Excellence English Hub also offers a programme of free Open Events designed to share and promote best practice in early language, early reading, phonics, and reading for pleasure. These events provide schools with the opportunity to hear from our Strategic Lead, English Hub Leads and Literacy Specialists, while spending time at St. Michael’s Church of England Primary School observing high‑quality phonics teaching in Reception and Key Stage 1 and exploring the school’s strong culture of reading for pleasure.
Open Events include a Headteacher talk, phonics learning walk, school tour, opportunities for reflection, focused CPD on phonics, early language and reading for pleasure, and time to consider next steps and further English Hub support. To gain maximum impact from the event, we recommend that two members of staff attend from each school, ideally a senior leader alongside another member of staff.
