Testimonials

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Two little words that can only begin to demonstrate the support we have received as a school from St Michaels English Hub. From our very first meeting, we have been in regular communication all in aid of improving outcomes for the pupils in our care. Beth and her team work tirelessly to offer a wide range of CPD for all schools (not just partner schools). The in-school support sessions are focused and supportive from a very knowledgeable team of Literacy Specialists. The staff has been guided effectively in improving their practice and our Reading Leader has been able to contact the team with any questions she may have. I am thrilled that our partnership will continue into the new academic year as we begin to recover from the pandemic and accelerate pupils reading skills.

I am so pleased we attended our first event at St Michael’s. Our school wouldn’t be the same otherwise.

We’ve been working with the hub for over two years now. The training they offer or have signposted us to has been fantastic and the support we receive has been great; our Literacy specialist really knows our school and the catchment area we serve. I feel as Literacy lead and Deputy Head the hub have been instrumental in moving our school forward – I’m really pleased we signed up.

Despite being an English leader for a really long time, I was newly trained in ‘Sounds-Write’ when I took over the role of Reading Lead at MMPS and James’s support has been invaluable. He provided support and guidance on how to lead ‘Practice Time’ and coaching sessions to ensure the teaching of the programme is consistent across the school. The feedback from the staff in school has been really positive; they value the coaching sessions and observations as an integral part of their professional development.

We have been a part of St Michael’s Hub for two years now and we are delighted with the progress that staff and children have made in the teaching and learning of reading and phonics across the school.

The mentors that we have been provided with are extremely knowledgeable, incredibly supportive and have provided staff with excellent feedback to enable them to develop further.

Furthermore, the opportunities for staff CPD have been greatly appreciated. The CPD provided is of a very high standard with nationally recognised trainers that as a school we might not have been able to offer.

I would highly recommend being a part of this hub to any school
