Along with our training courses and workshops, you may also wish to attend one of our free Open Events. Our Open Events are designed to promote and share best practice in relation to the teaching of Early Language, Early Reading, Phonics and Reading for Pleasure. Our Open Events will provide you with the opportunity to hear from our Strategic Lead, English Hub Leads and Literacy Specialists.
During this time you will have the opportunity to spend a morning at St. Michael’s C of E Primary school, observing high-quality phonics lessons in Reception and KS1 and to explore the Reading for Pleasure culture across the whole school.
The Open Event will consist of the following things –
- Headteacher Talk
- Phonics Learning Walk
- Tour of the school
- Reflection time
- CPD on Phonics
- CPD on Early Language
- CPD on Reading for Pleasure
- Next steps
- Information on the English Hub
The Open Event gives people the opportunity to find out more information about the English Hub, next steps for support and ask any questions.
This year, we are offering a mixture of virtual and facet to face events.
A face to face Open Event, allows people to observe phonics and have a tour of St. Michael’s C of E Primary School. The Open Event will be lead by English Hub staff where you will find out more information, have opportunities to reflect on certain areas in your school and start to think of an action plan to support your school.
A virtual Open Event, is the same but is online via Zoom. It will still give staff the opportunity to observe phonics and discuss key areas of the English Hub.
When attending an Open Event, it would be beneficial for two members of staff from each school to attend one of which would be a senior leader and another member of staff.
If you have any questions please contact us on englishhub@oneexcellence.co.uk
